What is your biggest skincare concern? Acne? Wrinkles? Dullness? Saggy skin? Scars and marks? For me, it’s pigmentation below my eyes around the apples of my cheeks, due to years of exposure in the harsh Aussie sun while living in Melbourne. In fact, they have one of the highest levels of UV exposure and highest rates of skin cancer in the world. Even though I use sun protection religiously daily, I still ended up with a bunch of sun spots which over the years, became worse and bigger to the point they could not be concealed anymore.
Last Sunday, we were invited to Dr Edwin Lim‘s newly opened clinic at Changi City Point. Our first impression of Dr Edwin Lim was how flawless his skin was, it was literally glowing and screaming #skingoals. His complexion looks like it has gone through “beauty skin mode” filters you find in photo apps. LEGIT! We also knew we were in good hands seeing all his qualifications on the clinic wall ranging from Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at National University of Singapore, Post Graduate Diploma in Practical Dermatology from Cardiff and a Diploma in Aesthetic Medicine from the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine. Don’t be fooled by his youthful appearance, he has years of experience under his belt for Lasers, Botox, Fillers, Chemical peels and other aesthetic procedures and has even developed his own skincare line. Not to mention he is also very approachable and friendly, and was very meticulous in explaining the treatments to us, breaking it down in layman terms.
After the consultation, we decided my choice of treatment would be the Spectra Pigmentation Laser, a powerful and versatile FDA approved Nd: Yag laser that is clinically proven to treat a wide variety of conditions such as
- Sunspots, Agespots
- Post inflammatory hyperpigmentation
- Tattoo Removal
- Skin rejuvenation
- Skin brightening
How does it work?
This non-invasive treatment utilizes advanced laser technology to target melanin (pigments) in the cells. These pigmentation are shattered into smaller pieces which are then cleared by the body’s natural removal process.
Skin tone and colour is determined by the number of pigment cells. By reducing the number of pigment cells through laser, the skin will enjoy a brightening effect and lighter tone.
How long does each treatment take?
A treatment typically last between 15-30mins, depending on the condition or treatment area.
Is it painful?
The treatment feels like tiny ant-bites on the skin. It is very tolerable.
How many treatments are required?
Is there any downtime?
Downtime is minimal or none at all. Some patients may experience slight redness which subsides after 1-3 hours
The whole procedure took less than 30 minutes including consultation, cleansing and prepping your face and the actual laser treatment. You can be in and out with glowy goddess skin on your lunch hour. I was chatting with Edwin most of the time and didn’t even feel any pain so it was over before I know it.
